| Paint the Town Desert Living
March 2007
Excerpt:
“I am forced to create, to sculpt,” confesses Pete Deise, “or I will shrivel up and die in some florescent-lighted cubicle.” Thankfully, Deise is alive and well — and terribly busy, too. Which is why his sculptures can be seen all over Phoenix (and beyond). The work is raw and organic, an exploration of how living bodies react to the forces of nature, rendered in what he calls “delicate steel.” When asked about his role in the Phoenix art scene, Deise says he'll “just hide out, work, and let others figure it out.” |
